Robert Paul Russell
Robert Paul Russell serves as the Music Theory and Piano Instructor at PW. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Robert began his training at the Cleveland Conservatory of Music. He then continued his studies under Ada Clement, co-founder of the Ada Clement Piano School, which later became the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, studying with Winnifred Jones. He completed his Master’s Degree at San Jose State University, where he recently returned to also obtain his Doctorate in Conducting and Arranging. Through his career as a professional pianist, he has performed in various hotels and clubs across the country, as well as numerous road tours with 1992 Big Band and Jazz Hall of Fame Inductee, Sammy Kaye and actor and bandleader, Nick Stuart, “The Man with the Band from Movieland”. He served as the Department Chair and Departmental Head in the East Side Union High School District in San Jose, California. After moving to Georgia, he created a production company with his wife, Kathy, where they have directed and performed in such shows as The Georgia Senior Follies, Annie, A Chorus Line, Mame, and The Music Man shown at the Cumming Playhouse. Robert enjoys teaching everything from piano performance and music theory, to sight reading, composition, performance skills and music appreciation.
